By now all regular full-time and part-time staff at VCH should have received an email invitation to complete the VCH 2016 Accreditation Canada Worklife and Patient Safety Culture Survey.

About the survey

This is a very important tool which is required by Accreditation Canada in preparation for our upcoming site visit in September 2016.  It allows VCH to demonstrate to our surveyors how we as an organization identify common themes to improve the work environment and support safe, quality patient care. Results are meant to help inform both local and VCH-wide strategies around improving team culture and worklife, similarly to the previous provincial Safety and Engagement surveys in 2011 and 2013.

Deadline May 27

The survey will remain open until Friday, May 27 at 11:59 PM. Participation is voluntary, and we hope to hear from as many regular VCH staff as possible. The more responses we receive, the more meaningful and representative the results will be. Physicians are not included in this survey as there will be separate strategies for them.

How to do it

The email invitation contains a personal link to the online survey, accessible from any computer with internet access. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes. Staff who work at a VCH site, but are employed by another health organization (i.e. Lab, Pharmacy), will not be receiving this survey, but may be involved in a similar one by their health organization at another time.

It’s confidential

All responses are strictly confidential and will only ever be summarized as roll-ups of at least five people, so that they are not personally identifiable. At all times, personal information is protected and stored on a secure VCH server. VCH collects, uses and shares personal information only in accordance with the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

A VCH-overall summary report will be submitted to Accreditation Canada in preparation for our September 2016 site visit, to inform the discussion that VCH senior leadership will have with our surveyors regarding common themes and improvement strategies across the organization.
