Dave was awarded the prestigious Medal of Distinction for his patient first approach to providing a safe and secure environment of care and for his lasting contributions to the industry.

His vision to standardize systems and processes, while being fiscally responsible with patient dollars, ensures that security systems are accessible and user friendly across the lower mainland. Our staff, patients and visitors are safer as a result.

His recent highlights include driving the Leading Practice for Heliport Management with Accreditation Canada – a nationwide first, and formalizing the Health Organizations Electronic Security Systems Specifications document – a benchmark tool that will be used by security healthcare professionals in years to come.

Shima was one of the first responders to a mattress fire at Saint Vincent’s Langara. She removed the resident from their room, placing herself at great risk in doing so. As a result of Shima’s heroic actions, the resident only received second and third degree burns – the outcome for the resident could have been far more severe.
