VCH wins at the 2017 Quality Awards

Recently, the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council presented its annual 2017 Quality Awards and VCH was recognized with two awards.

In memory of Jessica Coulter-Brown.

Posthumously, Jessica Coulter-Brown won the Everyday Champion award. Jessica, who sadly passed away in July, was recognized for her “willingness to take on a leadership role, and her enthusiasm for championing change, was exemplified by VGH’s C Diff. Initiative to reduce infections.” The former patient care aide will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of working with her.

The Wishing Well Team

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at VGH was given the Coping with End Life award for the ICU Wishing Well Project, which comes up with wishes that help them to cope and create meaning during the dying process. The Wishing Well team, which includes physicians, nurses, social workers, spiritual care, personal care aides, management and administrative staff, goes above and beyond to fulfill these wishes.

Congratulations to everyone for these awards!
