Effective January 1, 2017, Medical Services Plan (MSP) premium rates will be changing

Effective January 1, 2017, Medical Services Plan (MSP) premium rates will be changing for those employees who have two adults per family (irrespective of the number of dependent children). The family rate will be increasing form $136.00 per month to $150.00 per month. Single adult premium rates will remain the same at $75.00 per month. If your MSP rates are paid by your employer, the increased rate will be paid by your employer. The new rates will be reflected on your pay advice. For self-purchasing employees, your automatic debit payments will reflect the new rates if applicable.

In addition, all minors, international students, and dependent post-secondary students ( i.e. older than 18 and younger than 25, in full-time attendance at a recognized post-secondary institution, and supported by a parent or person who stands in place of the person’s parent) will no longer be charged for MSP premiums. This change will not impact the current level of medical coverage.
