HIRING! – Intensive Tertiary Rehabilitation Program

This April Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) will be hiring Allied Health and Nursing professionals for the Intensive Tertiary Rehabilitation Program (ITR) housed in the newly constructed Joseph and Rosalie Segal Family Health Centre. This highly specialized unit aims to bridge the gap within the variety of Mental Health and Substance Use services currently spread across VCH.

The vision:

This state of the art facility will be equipped with a team of health care professionals who will provide innovative and recovery focused care in order to meet the unique needs of individuals suffering from complex mental health and substance use issues.

Benefits of working in the ITR unit:

  • Experience a highly specialized 3- week orientation which will equip staff with the skills needed for: Trauma informed care, motivational interviewing, patient & family centred care, and harm reduction.
  • Be exposed to ongoing professional development and training in mental health and substance use.
  • Work with a strong in-house support system which will include a Clinical Educator, Program Coordinator, and access to a Clinical Nurse Specialist. This support system will assist in solving complex situations and care plan development.
  • Work alongside a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, which will broaden your overall experience as a healthcare professional.
  • Develop long-term, therapeutic and professional relationships with clients in order to support their recovery journey.
  • Accessible and co-located Mental Health and Substance Use services available (urgent care, outpatient services, acute inpatient, etc.)
  • Make a long-lasting and positive impact on a client’s life.
  • Work in a beautiful new building, in a state-of-the-art, clinically-designed care environment.

What does the typical client population look like?

Prospective clients will have a complex mental illness, generally a psychotic or bipolar disorder that has stabilized to the degree that acute assessment and treatment is no longer required, but for whom ongoing intensive psychiatric, behavioural and psychosocial rehabilitation is needed. These individuals will have a documented history of high-risk behaviours only suitable for the capacity for which ITR can provide. Employees of the ITR unit will receive ongoing education, training, and support in order to deal with this inherently intricate population.

  • Registered Nurses / Registered Psychiatric Nurses
