Be cyber aware: connect with care
June 5 – 9, 2017 is Privacy and Security Awareness Week at Vancouver Coastal Health. This year’s focus is cyber security. To help you learn about this important topic, we’re running a contest. Every day between June 5 – 9, complete a short quiz and you’ll be entered for the chance to win great prizes!
Why is cyber security important to VCH staff?
In the last 18 months, there has been an increased incidence of ransomware and of hijacking and unauthorized extraction of personal health information from hospitals and health sector entities around the world, and in particular across North America. The most recent instance was the ransomware WannaCry which has infected over 200,000 computer systems in over 150 countries.
As VCH health care staff and/or providers, it is critical to equip ourselves with the knowledge and tools to function in a digitally responsible and responsive manner to these new emerging threats.
How to enter the contest
Every day between June 5 – 9, go to the Be cyber aware: connect with care page on VCH Connect. After reading the learning content, click the link to complete a short quiz. Complete the daily quiz with the correct answers and you get one (1) entry into the contest. Complete the quiz every day next week with the correct responses and you will better your odds with five (5) entries in! Bookmark the link and come back every day to enter the contest.

The deadline to complete all 5 quizzes is 11:59 pm on June 9, 2017. The draw will be held the following week. Winners will be contacted by phone or email. This contest is only open to VCH employees.
Prizes include:
- Five (5) VCH staff will win VCH swag and an encrypted USB to keep your data safe!
- Two (2) VCH staff will get a second place prize of a $75.00 gift card to of their choice to Amazon.ca, Best Buy, Cineplex or Cactus Club!
And finally,
- One (1) VCH staff will win the Grand Prize of a $150 gift card to their choice of Amazon.ca, Best Buy, Cineplex or Cactus Club!
