Staff and local dignitaries assembled today (Thursday, Oct. 11) on the LGH campus to mark the beginning of construction of the HOpe Centre. This new four-storey centrefor Mental Health and Addictions (MH&A) will replace the current 26 bed psychiatric inpatient unit, and consolidate the majority of the mental health and addiction outpatient clinics in North Vancouver currently housed in several old residential facilities. The new facility will also create space in support of the future UBC Academic teaching role of LGH, and provide space to repatriate the local BC Ambulance station.
