Quilted decorations bring colour and warmth to Olive Devaud residents

Powell River quilters went above and beyond recently when they presented residents of the Olive Devaud Residence with almost 100 quilted door hangings at a recent tea.

Over the last year, the 72-member Timberland Quilters’ Guild crafted more than enough colourful door hangings to adorn each of the 81 doors in the residence. The door hangings have wooden slats and wires attached to the back to make it easy to hang them from a door. Volunteers not only quilted the hangings but prepared the wood and wire assembly to make it easy as possible to display the handiwork.

The residents have really appreciated the decorations that help to brighten up the aging facility according. Guild members have also contributed other quilts to hang on the walls over the last few years, something that’s been a real treat for both staff and residents.
