Dynamic duo helping LGH babies receive accolades from more than 10,000 Facebook users

Pamela Hollington and her mother, Jean, are two Lions Gate Hospital Foundation volunteers who started out by touching the lives of more than 100 new LGH babies but have wound up inspiring thousands with the story of their efforts.

Jean and Pamela have sewn and donated well over 100 incubator covers, receiving blankets & breast feeding pillow covers to the LGH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to add a more home-like, warmer feel to the surroundings. These time-consuming acts of kindness have drawn the attention of thousands of online fans, with the Foundation’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/lghfoundation) featuring the story of these two women recently topping the 12,000 mark for “views”.

Numerous families who’ve received one of these labours-of-love have weighed in with comments such as:

“Thank you! Thank you ladies! These little blankies were such a welcome touch of home when our daughter stayed for 4 weeks in the LGH SCN. The nurses took such great care of us as did these donors who made the surroundings much nicer.”

“My daughter Makena was 5 weeks early, her blanket she received while in the NICU still has a place of honour in her room and she is 7. What a lovely way to help make a tough situation better. Thank you!!”
