Teddy bear donation to bring comfort to kids

Long-time Lions Gate Hospital Foundation supporter Rosemarie Block knows well the value of a good teddy bear in a child’s time of need. She vividly recalls the feelings of isolation and loneliness she experienced when, as a child in the UK, she spent three months in a hospital unable to come in contact with toys or family members.

It’s this recognition that each one of those cute cuddly little bears can help lift the spirits of a young child that prompted her to purchase and then donate 20 teddy bears to the LGH Emergency to be provided to kids in distress in the ER. She made her donation hoping to pay forward the good feelings she remembers when, after her lengthy hospital stay, she arrived home to a room full of stuffed animals and toys.

It’s these kinds of quiet acts of compassion that characterize so many of the LGH Foundation’s supporters and volunteers and make life at LGH more meaningful. For more information on the LGH Foundation and their efforts, go to their web site or like their Facebook page.
