Participants in the Light Urban Search & Rescue (LUSAR) course learn a number of key hands on activities in this one-day learning opportunity available to many VCH staff.

VCH staff offered Emergency Training for Light Urban Search & Rescue

While most of us in the Lower Mainland area have been fortunate with a mild winter, much of the rest of Canada has endured snow storms, extremely cold weather and a destructive ice storm.

To ensure that VCH sites are prepared and staff are trained in emergency management, Health Emergency Management British Columbia (HEMBC) is offering education on personal preparedness and emergency/disaster response as well as ensuring that the appropriate tools and resources are available at our sites.

One of these courses is a one-day (7 hours) “hands on” LUSAR (Light Urban Search & Rescue) training course that teaches the skills to enter and conduct a search within a damaged building.

There is no cost to participants for the course and registration can be found on CCRS under LUSAR (Light Urban Search & Rescue).
