Staff fun one of many things on the LGH Foundation menu in February
This February, have fun supporting OUR hospital and help make a difference! The Lions Gate Hospital Foundation is building community spirit around LGH through a variety of exciting events as part of an Employee Giving Campaign aimed at raising awareness and funds for the Foundation. Join in and be part of the LGH team!
The campaign kicks off Monday, February 3 with a Loonie Plus Drive where departments will compete to raise the most funds. Money raised by each department stays in that department and will be used to purchase much-needed equipment. Refurbished sharps containers for collecting will be distributed on February 3rd or stop by the Foundation office and pick one up for your department. The deadline for the Drive is Feburary 21st – all containers must be returned to the Foundation office on this day to be in the running for the winning trophy and bragging rights as the best fundraising department at LGH.
Friday, February 14 is Show us Your Love Day, otherwise known as Valentine’s Day. Sign up to like or follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and receive a special chocolate Valentine’s Day treat. Simply stop by the Foundation office throughout the day to show us on your phone or our computer that you are following us and receive your treat!
De-stress with a quick game of Dodgeball! On Thursday, February 20, balls will be flying in the gym with the first ever hospital-wide LGH Dodgeball Tournament. Starting at 4pm staff teams decked out however they see fit will fight for a place in the finals taking place at 5:30pm. It’s a single knockout tournament and every department is encouraged to sign up a team of 6 players. Cost is $5 per player at the door. Refreshments will be available. February 6, 13, 20 and 27 have been designated Food Truck Thursdays and a selection of Vancouver’s most popular takeaway restaurants-on-wheels will be in the hospital’s upper parking lot, outside the gym, from 11am to 3pm on each of these days. Watch out for Big Red’s Poutine, Hotties Pasta Bar, The Reef Runner, Feastro – The Rolling Bistro, Reel Mac and Cheese and Culver City Salads. Participate in our Foodie February Fundraiser and part proceeds from each meal you purchase will go to LGH.
The campaign wraps up on Thursday, February 27 with a Lunchtime Concert where the winners of both the Loonie Plus Drive and the Dodgeball Tournament will officially be announced. Come eat your lunch in the Terrace Café and listen to some great music between 11:30 am and 1 pm. Results will be announced at 12:30pm.
