St. Mary’s staff lauded for their care by long-time Sunshine Coast resident

I have lived here on the (Sunshine) Coast for almost 30 years. I have never been seriously ill, until now, and now I am very sick. So, I have never had the opportunity to use our local hospital, except for the odd visit to Emerg. or Radiology or Lab for inconsequential procedures.

However, how things have changed, and I am now in the hospital twice a week, at least, have had to be admitted twice, spent long hours in Emerg and ACU and on the new second floor. I am so impressed I just had to share this. I know that there are people who will tell of their bad experiences and whine and moan, but this is my point of view at our jewel of a hospital here in Sechelt.

I am so impressed that I can’t say enough good about it. The staff are totally committed to you and they CARE! They are all understaffed, in all departments, yet if you need them, they step up to the plate and go to bat for you 100%.

The hospital is 5 minutes from my house, I don’t have to travel to Vancouver for treatment, and that is such a blessing. The main thing, however, is that every staff person I’ve had any interaction with in our hospital CARES. They are there when you need them and I can’t believe how lucky we are to have this facility.

I want to thank every one of you personally, including all the Dr’s, nurses, techs and all staff involved, so this is a start. I am not even halfway through my treatment, so will be seeing you all soon.
