A parent writes to praise the staff at Sechelt Hospital for the care they provided to her young daughter.

‘I was really so grateful and thankful for that extra care and attention’

Staff at the emergency department at Sechelt Hospital (formerly known as St. Mary’s Hospital) left a positive impression on a mother when she had to bring in her daughter for a painful ear infection while on a recent camping trip.  Below is her letter:

Hello,
I wanted to take a moment to commend the staff at St Mary’s Hospital (Sechelt Hospital). I was there with my four-year-old daughter recently. She was very sick with an ear infection and the staff there were so kind and considerate. They helped her with warm cloths for her ears and popsicles.  They went out of their way to keep her entertained and help take her mind off her pain.

I was really so grateful and thankful for that extra care and attention. The doctor who saw her was gentle, kind and took the time to listen and understand the situation. All in all it’s no fun to get sick when you are away from home on a camping trip, but honestly the team there made it much better for us and I am really truly thankful for that.

My daughter is much better now and she and I thank you for the wonderful care. Please pass this along to all the team that was working on a recent Friday evening! Well done and thanks to you all.

Signed,

A grateful mother
