A letter writer to the local paper praised staff at Squamish General Hospital for the care they provided a friend during her final days.

‘Thank you for making our friend’s final journey one of dignity and love’

The following letter about staff at Squamish General Hospital appeared in the Squamish Chief newspaper in July.

I feel compelled to write and compliment the staff at Squamish General Hospital. Our friend was recently admitted to … at the hospital during her short and very brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

We visited from the Island in her final days. We were bowled over by the superb level of care that was provided to her, but also the welcome and kindness shown to us and her family. The level of compassion and person-centred care we witnessed has to be acknowledged publicly. Society can be quick to criticize health care. The sheer professionalism and genuine care witnessed was exceptional, you guys are worth your weight in gold.

Thank you for making our friend’s final journey one of dignity and love. We cannot thank you enough.
