A VCH staffer who lives in Vancouver shares his heartfelt thank you letter to express his gratitude to second floor staff at Sechelt Hospital for the loving care they showed his friend.

‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart’

The love they showed a dying friend inspired this thank you letter to the staff on the second floor of Sechelt Hospital.

Please pass on my deepest appreciation and thank you to the staff on the second floor nursing station at Sechelt Hospital as well as the home care staff in Sechelt for their help and support for Martin who is/was a friend of mine who passed away in Sechelt Hospital in July.  My apologies for the delay in writing this but, things have been rather busy for me with that and have just now gotten around to sending this email.

Martin was pretty much on his own at the end of his life and the staff there as well as his other friends in Sechelt really rallied round to make his life as comfortable as possible both in the hospital and the few times he was able to make it home to his house.

I do not have all the names that should have but please pass this on to all the staff there.  Particularly, Cora, a nurse on the second floor Critical Care Nursing Station and Petrina Wing, Palliative Care Co-ordinator and Sara, nurse/care aide are ones that I made a note of.

Their help, love and support is very much appreciated by not only myself but all of those in Sechelt who knew him.  Without them and the rest of the staff at Sechelt Hospital and Home Care that attended to Martin, things would have not been as comfortable for him as they were.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
