A dad praises staff at the Whistler Health Care Centre for the care they showed his five-year-old son who hit a tree while skiing.

Stressed parents of 5-year-old grateful for caring team at Whistler Health Care Centre

No one wants to have a ski accident and no parent wants to see their child get hurt, but visitors who made an unplanned visit to the Whistler Health Care Centre left with a positive impression of the facility after their five-year-old needed treatment following contact with a tree.

To whom it may concern,

I wanted to pass along my thanks to the amazing staff at Whistler Health Care Centre. Earlier this month,  I came in with my 5-year-old son who had hit a tree while skiing at a decent pace. He had sustained obvious facial trauma with the possibility of fractures and obvious dental trauma as well, but was doing OK considering. While waiting at triage, the RN saw us and decided to triage us first and took us to a room promptly. I wish I could remember names, but the next RN we had contact with was fantastic as well.  The physicians were equally compassionate and we were all treated very well. X Rays were done, an IV was started with the RN doing an excellent job explaining and trying to make sure my son wasn’t scared. He was sedated for some facial suturing and moved from the peds trauma room to a recovery bed and checked on frequently with 2 RNs ensuring we (the parents) were informed. This entire event was quite stressful for us as it’s very difficult seeing your kids hurt, but it was definitely made easier by the caring and professional way that everyone managed my son’s care.

Thank you again – a grateful dad.
