Election Day in BC is coming to Coastal sites

Tuesday, May 9, 2017 is general election day for the BC provincial election. Employees are entitled to have time off from work to vote in the provincial election. The following will assist you in determining time off requirements, if necessary:

  • Polling hours on Tuesday, May 9 are from 8 am to 8 pm.
  • Per the Elections Act, all staff scheduled to work on May 9th and who are eligible to vote are entitled to 4 consecutive hours clear from work (during the polling hours of 0800 to 2000) in order to cast their ballot. Staff whose schedule already provides for 4 consecutive hours off during polling hours are not eligible for time off from work. Click here for more details.

Information for inpatients

LGH: Elections BC officials will be onsite at Lions Gate Hospital for patients who want to cast a ballot in the May 9th provincial election. They will be escorted to all the units in the acute tower by LGH volunteers over three time periods: 10 am – noon; 2 – 4 pm; 6 – 8 pm

Sechelt: Elections BC will do bedside voting at Sechelt Hospital and Totem Lodge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on May 9th.  They will be at Shorncliffe on May 8th for advance voting from 10 to 12:00 noon.

Powell River: On May 8th, Elections BC officials will be at Evergreen Extended Care from 10 until noon and at Kiwanis Garden from 1 pm until 3 pm. On Tuesday, May 9th, they will be at PRGH starting at 1 pm.

Squamish General Hospital: Election BC Officials will be on site on Tuesday, May 9th at 2 pm to 6 pm.

Bella Coola and Bella Coola: Elections BC officials will be at Bella Coola General Hospital and R.W. Large Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 8th.
