Grateful patients say thank you for the care they’ve received at Richmond Hospital’s ED and OASIS program.

‘I have nothing but gratitude to express …’

A patient who spent 10 weeks at Lions Gate Hospital recently reaches out to thank everyone involved in his care.

Jan Overby here from Deep Cove. In late May, I experienced a stroke and needed to be hospitalized. During my ten-week stay at Lions Gate, I was able to witness first-hand the dedicated people working there, and the outstanding level of professional care that people in my situation receive at your hospital. I have nothing but gratitude to express to the many people that helped me out during my period of recovery.

I would like to thank the nursing staff of the 7th floor East – Jaclyn, Boti, Christina, Sydney, Vanessa, Lisa, Karen, Danielle, Jessica, Colby and all the other fine caregivers who looked after me on their ward and nursed me back to health during my first critical days.

On the 5th floor East Rehab I would like to thank the nursing staff – Brenda, Anne-Marie, Edna George, Heidi, Diahnna, Katha, Lorena, Marie, Robyn, Susan, Via, Alan, Amy, Barbara, Carlos – for helping me day to day and for getting me up and going each morning.

In my rehab program I benefited greatly from the help of my occupational therapist Sabeena and my physical therapist Lubna.

For keeping our rooms clean and tidy every day, I am obliged and wish to thank Marina and her terrific Housekeeping team.

I would also like to acknowledge my social worker Althea for her heartfelt conversations and my Patient Care Coordinator Karen who helped to keep the ship afloat. My dietitian Nancy and her crew kept me fed for 10-weeks – thanks everyone: loved the oatmeal!!

Among the medical staff I’d like to thank Dr. Erin Chan, Dire Irene Chorny, Dr. Mark Hudon, Dr. Long, Dr. Van, Dr. Early.

There are undoubtedly many others whose names have slipped my attention, but whose care was so admirable. Thank you, thank you everyone! Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Yours sincerely,

Jan Overby
