The Powell River General Hospital MOREob core team receive an award for their work on the program. Core team members include Midwife Sheena Nordstrom, PCC OBS Zeny MacDonald, staff nurse Alison Foss, staff nurse Rachel Young ,CNE Nova Cleghorn, staff nurse Emma Green. Missing is Dr. Felix Nwaeze.

Powell River General Hospital receives the MOREob Recognition Award

For the second year in a row, the Powell River General Hospital obstetrics interprofessional team, which includes physicians, midwives and nurses, has received the MOREOB Recognition Award.  The award is given by Salus Global, the parent company of MOREOB, for meeting the following criteria of  80% of participants:

  • 2  or more Chapters
  • 1 Skills Drill / Emergency Drill or Simulation
  • Workshop/ACE
  • Audit Process is being utilized
  • Teamwork and/or Communication tools are utilized
  • Interprofessional review of No Harm Events
  • Effective Core Team functioning

The Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently (MOREOB) Program is a comprehensive performance improvement program that creates a culture of patient safety in obstetrical units. Founded on High Reliability Organization principles, the MOREOB Program integrates professional practice standards and guidelines with current and evolving safety concepts, principles and tools.

Dr. Felix Nwaeze is a Core member of the PRGH MOREob team.

The PRGH MOREOB team have been working on the quality and patient safety initiative for the last two years.

The core team has achieved greater than 80% participation in the program with 92% attending the MoreOB workshops and 88% completing the assigned chapters and quizzes.

The award was presented Sept. 20, 2017 to the Core team members.
