Mehri’s Place will temporarily close for renovations starting Friday, Dec. 8. Sodexo is opening up a space for the coffee bar in the LGH cafeteria.

LGH’s Mehri’s cafe temporarily moving… to the cafeteria

As part of the ongoing rejuvenation of the Lions Gate Hospital atrium, Mehri’s Place will  temporarily close for about eight weeks starting Friday, Dec. 8, 2017. Sodexo will open up a space in the Terrace Café to fit the coffee bar as well as add an extra till to accommodate its patrons.  Regular coffee service will continue, but the espresso machine is unavailable until Monday.  Desperate for that latte or cappuccino? Try Blenz in the HOpe Centre.

The coffee bar’s hours will remain the same:

  • Monday to Friday  6 am – 7 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 7:30 am – 6 pm

Meanwhile, the expanded seating area behind Mehri’s (the old LGH Foundation offices) is opening with millwork to begin soon.

Contractors have now completed the west side doors of the 15th Street entrance and will begin working on the east side of the vestibule, which should reduce the cold breeze entering the building.

Expect NOISE on Dec. 11

Oh, the noise, noise, noise. Staff, visitors and volunteers should expect more noise in the atrium on Monday as well as in the emergency acute area due to the work on the 15th Street vestibule.
