The holidays are almost here – help guide patients to the right care at the right place

This holiday season, please encourage your clients to contact their local Family Physician, Nurse Practitioner, CHC, or community clinician for their non-emergent primary care needs, rather than going to the Emergency Department.

Aside from December 25 and 26 most services will be open during the holidays to hopefully avoid a surge in the emergency department at this time of year. The benefits for clients include:

  • Shorter wait times
  • Family Physician, Nurse Practitioner, and CHC may be closer to home
  • Less risk of infection
  • *Remind clients if they go to a walk-in clinic to ask that a copy of their medical report be sent to their family physician or nurse practitioner. (Check medimap.ca for walk-in clinic wait times. Click here for holiday hours for walk-in clinics.)

Below is a complete schedule of holiday hours to help you inform your patients/clients as well as links to receive copies of the Use Your ER Wisely poster and copies of 7 Numbers Every North Shore Senior Needs.

Thank you for your part in reducing ED surges over the holidays!
