Exemplary and efficient care provided to her 20-year-old son in the emergency department at LGH impresses mother (and RN).

Seamless experience, caring staff at LGH ED leave lasting impression on parent

I recently visited the emergency department at Lions Gate Hospital with my 20-year-old son who had a hiking accident in a remote region of Laos. He had fractured his ankle and needed proper follow-up when he returned. I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the staff and process going through ED.

We were admitted within five minutes of entering and the wait for the X-ray was only 45 minutes. Following that, we were seen by the ED doc within 15 minutes of returning to First Aid, and left soon after that with a walking cast and crutches.

All the staff, from Steve the triage nurse, to Dr. Murray the ED doc, were friendly, professional, and caring toward my son and me. I was very impressed with the efficiency of the emergency department, and well as the physical layout of the department itself. I am an RN myself and have worked for Home and Community Care for several years, but this was the first time in years that I have been a parent of someone needing emergency care. As my son had just spent 16 hours flying home from Asia, it was wonderful to be processed so quickly so that he could get home to sleep. Thank you for making it a positive experience.

Sincerely,

Tamra Wilson
