“I believe my daughter could have died on that flight.”

I want to express my deep appreciation to the emergency physician, Dr. Robert Griffith, in Richmond hospital, Vancouver.

On our flight from Chicago to Vancouver, my daughter had a severe allergic reaction (reason unknown) causing her to have shortness of breath, skin swollen and rash. Fortunately, a Canadian doctor,  Dr. Robert Griffith, was on that flight.  When the flight attendant asked for any medical doctor on board, Dr. Griffin stood up. He evaluated my daughter’s condition and, with the help of flight attendants in finding a first aid kit , Dr. Griffith injected my daughter with Epinephrine. After the injection, my daughter felt much better, and later Dr. Griffith asked her to be seen in Richmond hospital. For about 2 hours, Dr. Griffith just stood by the patient, never took a seat for a rest.

Eventually my daughter got fully recovered. I truly believe without the help from Dr. Griffith on that flight on that day, my daughter’s life could be in great danger and she could have died from her severe allergy reaction.

This was my first experience dealing with a family member with severe medical condition on a flight. I am amazed by the professionalism, the training, the compassion of Dr. Griffith. We owe a great debt to him. I am writing to you to express my appreciation and also see if you could do something to acknowledge him.
