“Stephanie is very valuable and we’re lucky to have her”

The daughter of a patient recently sent us the following letter:

I am writing to recognize a wonderful staff member in Richmond Hospital’s “Arthritis Rehabilitation Program”.

For over three months of my mother’s therapy, I observed Ms Stephanie Chung’s therapy with many different patients (occupational therapy). She has the same compassion for each patient she treats. She sits next to their beds like a family member, and with full attention and care, listens to them and very skillfully helps them with their struggles. She holds the patient’s affected area without any hesitation (could be foot, between toes, or a wounded area). She video tapes her patients’ movement (with their permission) from many different angles, and supplies them with useful information about the cause and effect of their injuries. She patiently explains all the materials, including the stretches and exercises, over and over with the same smile that she had when she entered the room.

Stephanie is very pleasant, polite, compassionate and patient. She connects with her patients on a very deep level, and when she’s in session with them, she gives them 100% attention.

My mother and I had the opportunity to meet Stephanie in our own separate sessions and, in every session she was very attentive and the session was very informative. I learned more about my mother’s back, knee, foot, ankle, and toe problems than any other doctor or therapist could explain. She makes her patients feel very special, while she has complete control over the session, and the result is her patients feel very comfortable.

Because of my mother’s health problems, I have met many occupational therapists. I have never seen as good as examination as Stephanie gives. Her inquiries regarding the patient’s problems are excellent.

In my opinion, Stephanie is a very valuable asset to Richmond Hospital, and we are lucky to have her.
