A rash of thefts and break-and-enters at healthcare facilities across the Lower Mainland has Integrated Protection Services calling on staff to stay alert.

Break-ins across Lower Mainland call for increased awareness of site security

There has been a rash of thefts and break-and-enters at healthcare facilities across the Lower Mainland, including at Richmond Hospital and at Richmond community sites. In some cases, it appears that suspects are using keys to access clinical areas and offices.

While Lower Mainland Integrated Protection Services (IPS) in conjunction with Paladin Security and the RCMP continue their investigation, we are asking the following of staff:

  • Lock your office doors at all times when away from your desk.
  • Keep you VCH ID with you at all times. Do not leave in either your locked office or in a locked desk drawer.
  • If you have keys for clinical areas, please keep these with you, too, at all times.

Although there have been no instances of aggression or violence associated with any of these recent activities, IPS asks that if staff witness anything suspicious, please report the activity immediately to security. Please do not approach or confront any individual directly.
