Locks left on bike racks are a nuisance.

Spring cleaning of the RH bike cage: May 26

In preparation for a busy spring Bike to Work Week and summer cycling season, we will be implementing a Spring Cleaning of the RH bike cage. Abandoned bikes and locks will be removed and the grounds swept on Thursday, May 26.

Tag, you’re it…

Tagging of the seemingly abandoned bikes and locks begins next week -allowing for a couple of weeks notice so that staff property is not removed in error. If your bike has been tagged, simply remove the tag so that we know yours is a “working” bike. If your lock has been tagged, please remove it from the racks when you ride away; either take it with you or lock it to the bike lock storage bar on the wall.

Clean-Up Day…

Removal and disposal of all bikes and locks still tagged will take place on May 26 to free up valuable bike parking spaces and de-clutter the bike racks.

Moving forward…

Remember, your bicycle may only be stored on-site during your work shift. Some cyclists like to lessen the load on their ride and leave the lock at work. If you do not want to take your lock with you, please do not leave it attached to the racks; kindly attach it to the ‘handrail’ on the wall.

Access to the RH Bike Cage is not automatic. To request that your Hospital ID card be given swipe card access, simply send an email to VCH Photo ID. Be sure to include your name and employee number and specify the RH bike cage.

Thanks!

Thank you for considering your fellow cyclists and for travelling sustainably! Have you signed up for Bike to Work Week yet?
