On Thursday, October 20th, Richmond Hospital will be holding two, one-hour Biomedical Waste Segregation & Recycling Renewal training sessions in the Ralph Fischer Auditorium. Topics covered will include how different types of biomedical waste is categorized, how to properly dispose of the different types of waste on the unit, what happens to the waste during end processing and the impact that each of us can have on proper waste handling.

Biomedical Waste Segregation & Recycling Training

On Thursday, October 20th, Richmond Hospital will be holding two, one-hour Biomedical Waste Segregation & Recycling Renewal training sessions in the Ralph Fisher Auditorium.

The first session will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and the second session will be from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.  These sessions are held to provide staff education on proper waste segregation, improve health and safety and reduce waste quantity and costs.

Topics covered will include how different types of biomedical waste is categorized, how to properly dispose of the different types of waste on the unit, what happens to the waste during end processing and the impact that each of us can have on proper waste handling.

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet VCH’s BioWoman, Teri Guimond, and our Sustainability Coordinator, Sonja Janousek, for a fun and informative session.

All staff members from Richmond Hospital, Minoru Residence and Lions Manor Residence who work with or are interested in biomedical waste segregation and our Recycling Renewal Program are encouraged to attend.   Bring any waste and recycling related questions you may have.
