“If your staff is happy, everything works better”

“If your staff is happy, everything works better,” “Our managers would love to take us in new directions, but I think they’re overwhelmed,” and referring to increasing demand, “I see more and more condos and more people and, frankly, I’m scared.” These were just a few of the comments made at the My VCH All-Staff Forum, held at Richmond Hospital, earlier this morning.

A standing room-only crowd of staff and physicians joined president and CEO Mary Ackenhusen and chief operating officer Jennifer MacKenzie to learn about the My VCH survey results and have a discussion about what can be done to improve the results over the coming year.

Another all-staff forum on Dec. 6th

If you missed the forum at Richmond Hospital, you have another chance to join on Dec. 6th either in person at Vancouver General Hospital or by following along on a computer via webcast – either as a group in a shared meeting room or individually at your desk.

What should we do next?

As part of the discussion at the Richmond forum, Mary and Jennifer asked staff three questions:

  1. What’s the ONE THING that stood out for you in the My VCH survey results?
  2. What would you act on FIRST? And why?
  3. How would YOU engage staff as we move forward?

Until Dec. 13th you can also answer these questions online to give your feedback on our next steps.
