Richmond Hospital Birth Centre staff did their part this week to ensure every child gets a Christmas present this year. The unit’s annual toy drive benefits the Richmond Christmas Fund.

In keeping with the holiday spirit, on Thursday, December 14 the Richmond Hospital Birth Center and NICU donated a box of new toys to the Richmond Christmas Fund’s annual toy drive.

Since 1930, the Richmond Christmas Fund has helped thousands of Richmond families to experience a brighter Christmas. Many Richmond residents don’t have the financial means to prepare a festive meal, let alone purchase gifts.  Each year, the Christmas Fund distributes grocery vouchers to individuals and families in need. Children 12 and under also receive toys, books, and sports equipment, while teenagers are given gift cards.

“What I love about Richmond Hospital is that all the staff here have a great sense of belonging and devotion to their community. The work they do everyday is more than enough, but to see them go above what is necessary to support the families in our community is a testament to who they are as people. We are very fortunate to have a group like this not only in Richmond, but also working in our hospital,” said Jill S, Women & Children’s Program Manager.
