Seeking participants for Prediabetes Prevention Program

What’s the purpose of this study?                        

Research indicates that prediabetes can be prevented or delayed by making healthy lifestyle choices, including eating right and staying active. The Healthy Living Program is inviting people to join a group-based Prediabetes Prevention Program delivered in a community setting targeting at-risk adults. There are three language versions (English, Cantonese and Punjabi) for the program. The program is facilitated by a multidisciplinary team of nurses, dietitians, and an exercise physiologist.

 

Who can participate?

Men or women 30-64 years of age who:

  • have no diagnosis of diabetes
  • are at risk for prediabetes (a CANRISK score of 21 and above)
  • are able to communicate (verbal, written) in either English, Punjabi or Cantonese

Please note: The study can’t accept female subjects who are currently pregnant.

 

What does the program involve?

Attend 5 group sessions (90-120 minutes each) and one post-program questionnaire (20-30 minutes). There is no cost to attend.

 

When will this study take place?

From October to December 2012.
