New bike cage opens at VGH

The early bird gets the certificate: Bett Lauridsen awards Simone Gruenig, Palliative Care physiotherapist and one of the first arrivals to our newest bike cage, a $10 gift certificate.

In a collaboration effort between Employee Engagement, Integrated Protection Services, the Commuter Centre and Facilities Management, a new secure VGH bike cage opened for business on Wednesday October 10. This is the fourth bike cage to open at VGH; the newest is located on the ground level of the parkade by the attendant’s booth.

A grand opening event, including muffins and coffee, was held between 7 and 9 am, and the first 10 bicycle commuters to use the bike cage received a $10 gift certificate to Café Ami.

“We sincerely hope that this new resource will encourage even more staff to bicycle to work,” says Glenn Garrick, manager, environmental sustainability.
