October 24: Rediscover the CIBC Centre for Patients & Families

Room for two: Father and son use a computer workstation designed for two. Seventy-five per cent of the Centre’s interactions are with patients and family members.

If you think the CIBC Centre for Patient and Families is just for patients and families — think again.

Of course, we do help patients and families transition from home to acute care and back home or to a community facility. In fact, we assist nearly 600 visitors each and every month. But that’s just the beginning.

Words of appreciation: “I have loved coming in here almost every day for seven weeks as my sister comes back to life. So, so appreciated.” – family member

By helping patients and families assume an ownership role in their own health care, and by providing them access to reliable health information and community-based resources, we’re also freeing time for our acute care and community colleagues. (And, don’t you worry, we’re always sure to refer patients back to you to verify their understanding of any health or treatment-related information that we help them locate.)

So, why not drop by next week and learn more about our services and how we support patients, families and — by extension — you!

While you’re here, have a piece of cake, some refreshments and enter to win one of our $25 gift card door prizes. Yes, you just might be able to have your cake and eat it, too!

Service day and night: The centre’s 24-hour computer station is well used. Forty per cent of all visitors use the centre’s computers to stay connected, pay their bills, learn about their treatment and more.
