Double-lung transplant recipient Christine Stathers presents a special glass angel to her guardian angel – surgeon Dr. John Yee – to honour him for helping save her life at VGH.

On December 12, grateful patient Christine Stathers and her family joined our VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation for the Angel Dedication Event celebrating our doctors, nurses and other health care professionals who provide the best care for adults in B.C. Christine is our 2012 Angel Campaign spokesperson. She has Cystic Fibrosis and is a double-lung transplant recipient. She generously shares her story by video at our Angel Campaign website. The CBC-sponsored event took place in the “Winter Wonderland” of the Diamond Courtyard at VGH, where thousands of paper angel ornaments with messages honouring health care professionals are hung on trees. In addition to honouring Dr. Yee, Christine publicly thanked all the angels who supported her through her transplant journey at VGH.

VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation partners with donors to provide the funds essential to ensuring our hospitals and health care teams can deliver B.C.’s best, most specialized care for adults. The Angel Campaign is in its 11th year and the campaign continues until the end of December. To learn more about the Angel Campaign and watch Christine’s video, visit www.angelsatvgh.ca

So far we have received more than 900 angel ornaments with messages honouring people, and to date we’ve raised over $200,000.
