A standing ovation for our UBCH OR team!

With only six more shopping days to Christmas, people have places to go, presents to buy and people to see. So when a power outage in the wee hours of the morning delayed surgeries at UBC Hospital on December 18, no one was cheering – least of all our patients. Thankfully, our OR team saved the day.

“Staff volunteered to extend their workday to keep the ORs running beyond their closure time,” says Sandy Streiloff, patient services manager, surgical suite. “As a result, we were able to conduct all but two of the surgeries originally scheduled for the day.”

We applaud our friends and colleagues at UBC Hospital! Thank you for setting aside your personal plans to deliver the care patients needed at this special time of year — thank you for keeping People First .
