Pharmacy Awareness Week: VGH to showcase pharmacy team

This year, Pharmacy Awareness Week will take place between March 4th – 8th.  During this week, pharmacy staff at Vancouver General Hospital will host an information booth Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 11 am and 1 pm in the hospital lobby across from the gift shop.  Everyone is invited to visit the booth to hear about pharmacy services and chat with members of the pharmacy team. Visitors to the booth can also answer pharmacy trivia questions for a chance to win a prize!

Pharmacy Awareness Week (PAW) is an annual, national event to celebrate the profession of pharmacy and to recognize the many ways in which pharmacists and pharmacy technicians contribute to the care, health and wellness of patients.  Here at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), the pharmacy department consists of clinical pharmacists, dispensary and medication management pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians and assistants, who all have active roles in ensuring that patients receive safe, effective, and appropriate medication therapy.

You are also invited to a presentation by doctors Corinne Hohl and Ruth Tsang, who will be discussing the exciting new role that pharmacists have taken on in the emergency department evaluating patients for adverse drug events.  The presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 6th at 12pm in the Pharmacy Clinical Room, located in the main pharmacy offices on the ground floor of the Centennial Building at VGH.

You can also check out a short video that shows some of the services that pharmacy provides.
