New patient services manager of VGH Trauma Program

I’m pleased to announce that Nasira Lakha has accepted the position of patient services manager for the VGH Trauma Program effective June 3, 2013.

Nasira is new to the role of PSM – VGH Trauma Services, however, she is very well known to trauma in her current role as the manager of the Provincial Trauma Registry. Over the past 7 years Nasira has collaborated at the local, provincial and national level in order to develop trauma registry related systems, programs and projects. Most recently she has worked with the registry staff, and the VGH Burns team to migrate 37 years’ worth of data to create the Province’s first Burn Registry. Through the oversight of high quality data, Nasira has contributed to multiply quality improvement initiatives towards the improvement of trauma services delivery regionally and in British Columbia.  Nasira is an advisory member of Accreditation Canada for the Trauma Association of Canada, and an executive member of the Trauma Association of Canada. In addition she is an Executive Member of the Trauma Registry Information Specialists of Canada.

Nasira obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Alberta and her Masters in Health Leadership through Athabasca University. Nasira has co-authored several trauma related publications and participated in multiple conferences. Please join me and Dr. Richard Simons, medical manager, VGH Trauma Services, in welcoming Nasira to her new role.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to Heather Wong, who has adeptly been providing interim coverage. Nasira will continue to provide interim coverage for the Provincial Trauma Registry.
