New and improved park space: Landscaping will transform Detwiller’s “front yard” into a more attractive and accessible park with additional shade and seating.

Visiting UBCH? Take note of Detwiller access changes

In anticipation of The Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health (CBH) opening in the fall, extensive landscaping work will begin on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 and continue through the summer. Completion is scheduled by the end of September.

For safety purposes, access to Detwiller Pavilion will be affected while landscaping is underway. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Pathways connecting WesbrookMall to Detwiller Pavilion will be unavailable during landscaping.
  • A pedestrian- and wheelchair-friendly pathway will run parallel to the north side of Detwiller and lead directly to Detwiller’s front entrance.
  • Standard operating hours (0630 to 2200 hrs) still apply.
  • Access to all other Detwiller entrances remains the same, and the Kinsmen Tower is unaffected.
  • The inter-hospital shuttle service will continue to operate as normal and the Health Sciences Parkade remains open.

For more detail, please refer to our Detwiller Pavilion Patient and Visitor Map.

Landscaping will transform Detwiller’s “front yard” into a more attractive and accessible park offering patients, families and all who visit a calm and rejuvenating space with more shade and seating. New and improved pathways will create better and safer connections between buildings on the UBC Hospital campus.
