$50,000 Donation from Spectra Energy Means Better Burn and Wound Healing Care

On November 28, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation recognized a $50,000 donation from natural gas company Spectra Energy in support of burn and wound healing research.  Led by Dr. Aziz Ghahary, the internationally respected Burn and Wound Healing Research Laboratory at VGH continues to make great strides in innovative research that helps improve the lives of patients with burns and wounds due to trauma, non-healing diabetic ulcers or surgery. In the last four years, Spectra’s support to this area has totaled over $200,000 and contributed towards ground breaking discoveries and equipment to help adults in BC with the most serious burn and trauma injuries.

This donation has enabled the purchase of a High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) machine, a powerful tool that allows researchers to separate a mixture of compounds so they can identify, quantify or purify the mixture. This method takes only a few minutes and produces high resolution results that are easy to read and reproduce, thus saving researchers’ loads of time.

VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation thanks Spectra Energy for helping ensure excellence in the area of burn and wound healing research.
