Season 2 of VGH ED documentary filming now

Beginning May 11, the Knowledge Network is filming  a television documentary series at Vancouver General Hospital to give the public a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in one of Canada’s busiest emergency departments. The series will tell the stories of our staff and physicians on the frontline — and of the patients who are in their care. Filming is expected to continue until approximately August 7, 2015, with the final documentary airing over six episodes in 2016.

The documentary is a follow-up to last year’s hugely successful Knowledge Network program, Emergency Room: Life and Death at Vancouver General Hospital.

Business as usual

Patient safety and quality care will continue to be our first priority and will be maintained at all times throughout the filming. Patient care – and patient flow – will not be affected by this documentary.

Respecting privacy

The film crew will honour the request of anyone who elects not to be involved, or who temporarily suspends his or her consent to be filmed during a particular moment or activity. If footage is used which incidentally includes someone who has not given written consent to be filmed, or has chosen not to participate, the person’s likeness will be rendered unidentifiable by, for example, “blurring” the face.
