VIDEO: A shout out to our porters!
After a recent visit to VGH, one patient has high praise for a our team and Vancouver’s “great ambassadors” – our porters. In a recent letter to VCH, he explains why:
“I would like to take a moment to thank the staff at VGH for the excellent attention and treatment yesterday afternoon. In particular:
- The very fast checkin (3 or 4 minutes from arrival)
- The immediate attention by the nurse (he was funny, calming, experienced and thoughtful)
- The speed to get assessed by ER
- The detailed attention by the ER physician (I regret that I forgot his name). He was very thorough, advocated on my behalf, had an MRI obtained immediately due to a potential serious medical issue, etc. Otherwise, I might have waited many hours or even weeks to get an MRI.
- The funny and nice MRI staff.
- The porters – they are great ambassadors for VGH. I recommend a trip around VGH by wheelchair just for the positivity! They were really good.
- The fast follow-up.
VGH was thorough, spent a lot of time with me, explained things in detail and acted on my best behalf.
I went to VGH last night and was out by 9 pm.
I am a trade union (CUPE BCRO) workers’ compensation appeals specialist. I have done almost 1900 WCB appeals on behalf of workers as well as 300 long-term disability appeals. I have seen many, many doctors in various capacities. VGH patients are well served.
