The eye surgery patient with a stuffed bear

As a patient awaited her first retinal surgery, she took comfort from her teddy bear and one care provider in particular. Here’s why:

I would like to express my big Thank You to Michelle. She works at the Perioperative Care Unit.

This was my first eye surgery and I was very nervous and stressed waiting for over two hours outside the restricted surgery area.

When I was admitted to enter the restricted area at around 12:30 noon, I was greeted by Michelle who opened the door, led me to my bed, telling me to get changed and doing all the preparation before my eye surgery by Dr Albiani.

She was so pleasant and patient which made me feel less frightened and stressed.

When I asked what’s next steps, she told me with a smile, always with a warm smile!

I do not know if there’s more than one Michelle working inside the restricted area…

Please say Thank You to her for me!

Warmest Regards,

The eye surgery patient with a stuffed bear
