Our two February 50/50 Won! Vancouver staff lottery winners tell us what this means to them.

Last week Patti Van Ham, a community wound clinician, and Sharilyn Dent, a coordinator for the VGH Pre-Admissions Clinic, joined the growing number of 50/50 Won! Vancouver winners!

Sharilyn and Patti won over $6,200 each, with $12,663 in proceeds going to the Foundation to support both community and acute initiatives.

Sharilyn was so excited when the staff lottery folks came to give her the good news in person and shared, “This means so much to me as I can put the money towards my daughter’s education.”

Patti tells us she was so happy to get the call sharing the good news that she was a winner.

Patti is usually very active, including riding her bike and lot and lots of surfing. Unfortunately, she’s been sidelined by an injury caused by a car cutting her off on her bike, so it’ll be a while before she gets back to her regular activities. However, Patti says she’s going to use her winnings to further her passions.

“Aside from paying off bills and boring things like that, I’m planning to use my winnings to take a nice trip to Hawaii in the summer. I am also going to buy a new surfboard (or maybe two)!”

The next 50/50 Staff Lottery is March 24.

What are you waiting for? There are two chances to win every month and you only need to sign up once to participate. The more tickets sold means the larger the winnings for staff and more funding for the Foundation. To date, more than $45,800 has been donated thanks to our staff.
