Think C-M-S: Capacity Management Suite upgrade on June 7

The Regional Bed Management System across Vancouver General and UBC Hospitals – commonly known as RBMS, BMS, Bed Board and Bed Management – is being upgraded to the new Capacity Management Suite (CMS) on Tuesday, June 7 at 0700. (Note: Richmond Hospital will transition to the CMS on April 26.)

Last week, staff from each impacted job role performed user acceptance testing (UAT) on the CMS. Staff put the CMS through its paces, testing the system against real-world scenarios and making recommendations for how the system’s configurations can be improved.

We’d like to thank everyone who served as a tester. We sincerely appreciate your support in helping to make our transition to the CMS a success.

Think C-M-S!

The system provides access to real-time bed capacity and demand, tools, and automated processes, which will help to minimize patient waits, delays and diversions, and maximize the flow of patients through our hospitals.

The CMS is used by a variety of disciplines, including Patient Flow & Access, Admitting, nurses and nursing unit clerks, environmental services, porters, and clinical educators. The CMS is easier to navigate and introduces a number of exciting features, helping us to provide our patients with the best care by ensuring they get the right care in the right care setting at the right time.

CMS training begins in May

To ensure everyone is comfortable navigating the new system, all staff must complete CMS online training prior to go-live on Tuesday, June 7. Online training will be available in the Course Catalogue Registration System (CCRS) in early May. More information about training will be provided to your managers soon.
