VGH Bike-apalooza 2016

Back for its third year in a row, the north lawn adjacent to Heather Pavilion will once again host dozens of exhibitors, all focused on cycling and healthy living. Although hosted on hospital grounds, this is a FREE community event and everyone is welcome.

This year, VGH Bike-apalooza will be held on Thursday, September 8 from 3 to 6 pm along the W. 10th bikeway between Willow and Heather Streets.

In addition to raising awareness and celebrating cycling, Bike-apalooza aims to help summer bike commuters extend their riding into the shorter, wetter and cooler days of autumn and winter. More than 700 attendees have joined in over the past two years.

Tour the VGH Cycling Centre

There will also be tours of the award-winning VGH Cycling Centre, which has been described as one of Metro Vancouver’s best, located in the hospital’s former laundry building on W. 10th Avenue near the entrance to the Emergency Department. In addition to providing secure, indoor space for 182 bikes, the centre has showers for men and women, towel service, 105 well-ventilated storage lockers for wet bike gear and a bike repair area. There are memberships for full- and part-time riders. They also host regular workshops on bike repair and other bike-related topics.
