VCH staff member wins big in Hometown Heroes Lottery

Have you ever wondered who actually wins the Hometown Heroes Lottery? This year, one of your co-workers at VCH won $25,000.

“I was really excited to find out that I won a prize,” says Eunice Uy, a nurse at VGH. “It was funny because I didn’t know it was the early bird draw on that day and I got several phone calls from VGH but I thought it was staffing so I kept ignoring their calls until someone left me a message. I was thinking it was just a small prize but I was really surprised to find out that it was actually $25,000!”

Eunice says that she’s been buying the Hometown Heroes Lottery tickets for years without any expectations.

“I’ve been purchasing Heroes Lottery tickets for the last three years because it goes towards a good cause, but at the same time there’s also an opportunity to win,” she explains. “Honestly, I didn’t feel bad about purchasing the tickets even if I didn’t win.”

So what will she do with the big winnings?

“I’m not sure,” she says. “I’ll probably put the money towards a down payment on a house and set some aside for travelling.”
