Watch your step: changes to construction zone near UBC Hospital

Between now and the end of December, the construction footprint for the TRIUMF Line extension will be changing, impacting pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle traffic outside the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health (CBH).

Throughout construction, traffic management staff will be on-site to manage traffic and ensure access is maintained to the hospital.

Please see the information below for key dates and changes.

December 11 to 17, 2017

Starting Monday, December 11, the north-east corner of the building will be fenced off for construction.

During this time:

  • the UBC Hospital entrance, drop-off loop, and adjacent parking lot will remain accessible;
  • the drop-off area for CBH on Wesbrook Mall will remain temporarily on the northeast side of the building;
  • Wesbrook Mall, in front of CBH will remain fenced off; and
  • the northeast corner of Wesbrook Mall and the eastbound lane in front of the main entrance of CBH will be fenced off.

If you’re driving:

  • expect single-lane traffic southbound into and out of the hospital drop off loop;
  • the corner of Wesbrook Mall and eastbound lane in front of the main entrance of CBH will be restricted; and
  • commuters driving eastbound and westbound will be alternating single-lane traffic and may experience some delays.

If you’re walking or cycling:

  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.
