A new legacy for Dianna

The Health Employers Association of British Columbia (HEABC) announced last week that a new award has been added in memory of BC’s Health Care Hero, and beloved GF Strong occupational therapist, Dianna Mah Jones.

The Dianna Mah-Jones Award of Excellence in Person-Centred Care recognizes a team or project that makes use of leading practices to improve care for patients, residents or clients by focusing on the needs of the person rather than the needs of the system or service.

Dianna accomplished many outstanding achievements during her 35-year career with VCH, most notably: being honoured as the 2015 Outstanding Occupational Therapist of the Year from the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists BC and the 2017 BC Health Care Hero. She was well-respected and well-known across the region, province and nationally in the occupational therapy field.

The BC Health Care Awards recognize British Columbians who are providing outstanding care and support. Reflecting her personal commitment to patient care, the award is a fitting tribute to an exceptional occupational therapist and beloved member of the VCH family.

VCH thanks the Health Employers of BC for honouring Dianna’s legacy in this way.

Nominations for the award open January 15. The winner will be announced June 25, 2018. To nominate someone, visit the BC Health Care Awards website.
