Meet Peter Kubota
Pharmacist
Downtown Community Health Centre, Vancouver
How long have you worked at VCH?
2 years at VCH after 6 years transferring over from Providence Health
Your VCH contribution. Tell us what you do at VCH in one sentence.
I am one of the Pharmacy Team Members who provide Pharmacy services including medication related counselling, medications and pharmaceutical care to the various programs offered at our facility which services the downtown eastside whose patients are often impacted from malnutrition, poverty, HIV and addictions amongst other conditions.
One thing that we might be surprised to find out about you:
I work out 7 days per week on top of raising four children with my wife who is also a pharmacist. I believe as health care workers, we should walk the walk besides talking the talk.
Favorite hobby:
Trying to keep sports in my family life from biking to work, to introducing sports of all kinds to my children. I believe in keeping things interesting by exposing our lives to different activities so that we can learn how to use all of our skills when ever an opportunity arises.
Three things you always have in your fridge:
Fruit, vegetables and a good source of lean protein.
What makes you happy?
Hugging one or more of my children and/or wife.
Most healthy habit:
Being a “gym rat” – I’ve been a member of a gym for 36 years and I cannot seem to live a day without going there for an hour.
Favourite vacation spot or place you’ve visited:
The Caribbean where I have swam with wild turtles, stingrays and all sorts of sea life in crystal clear blue water.
Do you know someone at VCH who you’d like to see profiled in VCH News? Send your suggestion to news@vch.ca and we’ll follow up with them. Don’t worry, we won’t tell them you suggested them. It’ll just be our little secret.
