Meet Jen Leigh
Nurse Family Partnership Coordinator – Coastal
How long have you worked at VCH?
I started working for VCH in 1997 – so 16 years.
Your VCH contribution. Tell us what you do at VCH in one sentence.
I am part of a team providing coordination for the BC Healthy Connections Project (BCHP). The BCHP provides enhanced public health nursing services to vulnerable women from pregnancy until their children are two years old.
A little plug: if you know an at-risk pregnant woman who needs support, have them call our new service, the Public Health Prenatal Program, at 1.855.550.2229.
One thing that we might be surprised to find out about you?
I am one of the three generations of my family born in Vancouver. My maternal grandfather was born in Vancouver in 1898 in a house that was where the Bay parking lot now stands.
Favorite hobby?
Anything outdoors – hiking, skiing, kayaking. I live in Whistler after all…
Three things you always have in your fridge?
At the moment milk, bread and longboard wheels. I have a 15-year-old son that insist the wheels have to be frozen if you want to carve grooves into them to board here on the “rainy coast.”
What makes you happy?
Dinner time sitting down at the table with my family. I have a busy family with two teenagers. Dinner time often has lots of laughs.
Most healthy habit?
At the moment, yoga.
Favourite vacation spot or place you’ve visited?
The Galapagos Islands during the 2010 Olympics. Did I mention I live in Whistler?
